Mr. Serna is a sole practitioner who maintains two Board Certifications as a Criminal Defense Specialist. In 1981, after serving nearly four years as a violent crimes prosecutor, Mr. Serna opened his solo practice, dedicating himself to criminal defense and providing "hand crafted" personal service to his clients throughout New Mexico.

Mr. Serna was selected by Super Lawyers Southwest in 2007 and again in 2008 as a Super Lawyer in the field of Criminal Defense, White Collar Defense, and DWI Defense. He also was named as one of Albuquerque´s Top Lawyers by Albuquerque Magazine.

David C. Serna is New Mexico´s only Board Certified Criminal Defense Diplomate and Advocate, National Board of Trial Advocacy, Boston, MA. He has maintained his Specialist´s Certification, becoming recertified every five (5) years, since 1986.

He is also a Board Certified Trial Specialist in Criminal Law, NM Board of Legal Specialization. He has maintained his Specialist´s Certification, becoming recertified every five (5) years, since its inception in 1990.

Mr. Serna has been practicing criminal law since 1977. In his years of practicing criminal law, he has garnered numerous awards and distinctions and has represented clients in criminal matters in over 11 states across the nation.
