- Alabama Association of Paralegals, Inc. (AAPI)
The Alabama Association of Paralegals, Inc. (formerly known as Alabama Association of Legal Assistants) is a statewide professional association for legal assistants throughout Alabama. As an affiliate of NALA, the organization promotes NALA's aims. AAPI offers a variety of benefits, educational programs and networking opportunities to members.

- Alaska Association of Paralegals (AAP)
The Alaska Association of Paralegals (AAP), formerly known as the Alaska Association of Legal Assistants (AALA), was founded in May 1981 as a non-profit professional membership association of Alaska paralegals committed to the development and growth of the paralegal profession. AAP is governed by a board of directors selected by the full members at its annual meeting held in May. Board of Director meetings are held the first Thursday of each month. Monthly luncheon meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, featuring guest speakers from throughout the community. AAP also sponsors educational seminars designed to cover many topics in various areas.
- Alaska Legal Secretaries Association (ALSA)
Anchorage Legal Secretaries Association, a chartered chapter of NALS, is a professional organization dedicated to upgrading the knowledge and efficiency of legal personnel. In addition to stressing continuing legal education, the organization strives to promote a high standard of ethics among its members and cooperates with the judiciary and bar in maintaining high professional standards.

- Arizona Paralegal Association (APA)
The Arizona Paralegal Association ("APA") was formed in 1977 and is a nonprofit professional corporation for legal assistants. The APA became an affiliate association of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. in 1988. Our membership is currently near 400. The members are legal assistants employed by Phoenix area law firms, freelance legal assistants, paralegals employed in corporations or government agencies, students enrolled in paralegal training programs and other persons interested in supporting the APA and paralegal profession.
- Maricopa County Bar Association Paralegal Division (MCBA)
The Maricopa County Bar Association is a vehicle of service for the benefit of its members, the legal profession, the judicial system, and the public.
- Tucson Paralegal Association (TPA)
TPA is a professional association of paralegals whose primary goals include subscription to the Code of Professional Responsibility for Legal Assistants as set forth by the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA). TPA aspires to provide continuing legal education and to support and carry out the programs, aims, and goals of NALA.

- Alliance of Legal Document Assistant Professionals (ALDAP)
ALDAP is a California non-profit, mutual benefit corporation serving registered Legal Document Assistants (LDAs) and freelance paralegal/LDA dual-professionals. ALDAPs mission is to promote the LDA profession by providing seminars for continuing legal education, strengthening professional status by establishing and promoting support for professional standards and regulatory compliance, and communicating with the legal community and the general public.
- California Alliance Of Paralegal Associations (CAPA)
CAPA is a statewide non-profit, mutual benefit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession and the proposition that paralegals gain strength through alliance. CAPA represents California paralegals working in attorney- supervised settings and CAPA supports, encourages, and promotes an active relationship among its affiliated member associations, attorneys, national, state and local Bar Associations, and others in the legal community.
- California Lawyers' Assistants Secretaries & Students (CLASS)
We sponsor continuing legal education classes and seminars for legal support professionals and students. 6 workshops per year, referrals to online computer training (free) and one weekend retreat on a variety of legal topics of interest to our members.
- Cuyamaca Association of Paralegal Students
The Cuyamaca Association of Paralegal Students (CAPS) was founded by paralegal students to expand our paralegal our education even further, to “think outside the box.” Our vision is to take our education outside of the classroom and utilize it to the fullest within the community.
- Los Angeles Paralegal Association (LAPA)
The Los Angeles Paralegal Association ("LAPA") is dedicated to developing, strengthening, and advancing the paralegal profession. - NALS of Orange County (NALS)
NALS of Orange County is the Orange County, California chapter of NALS...the association for legal professionals, the national association founded in 1949. We are a nonunion, nonpartisan, nonsectarian, and nonprofit association for persons employed in the legal field.
- Orange County Paralegal Association (OCPA)
The Orange County Paralegal Association (OCPA) was formed in 1977 in response to a growing need for an organized professional association for paralegals. Originally formed as a section of the Orange County Bar Association, OCPA became an independent, voluntary, non-profit corporation in 1986 for paralegals interested in furthering their professional development.
- Paralegal Association of Santa Clara County (PASCCO)
Founded in 1978, PASCCO is a professional and educational organization for legal assistants. The majority of members are paralegals employed by Santa Clara County law firms, corporations, and governmental agencies.
- Sacramento Valley Paralegal Association (SVPA)
The Sacramento Valley Paralegal Association (formerly the Sacramento Association of Legal Assistants) was founded in 1978 as a professional and educational organization for paralegals, and was incorporated in 1981 under the California Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation laws.
- San Diego Paralegal Association (SDPA)
Founded in 1977 and originally called the San Diego Association of Legal Assistants (SDALA), SDPA changed its name in 2000. SDPA was founded as a professional organization for paralegals working in San Diego.
- San Francisco Paralegal Association (SFPA)
The San Francisco Paralegal Association (SFPA) is a non-profit organization comprised of individual members. The purposes are to represent the paralegal profession as an independent, self-directed profession, to enable paralegals to enhance their professional development and to support the expansion of the delivery of legal services in an economic and efficient manner.
- Santa Barbara Paralegal Association (SBPA)
SBPA is a non-profit corporation governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, which consists of 7 elected Officers and 10-11 Directors or Committee Chairs.
- Sequoia Paralegal Association

- The Colorado Association of Professional Paralegals and Legal Assistants (CAPPPLA)
The Colorado Association of Professional Paralegals and Legal Assistants ("CAPPLA") was formed in early 2003 as an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants ("NALA"). For many years, NALA has contributed greatly to the advancement of the paralegal profession all across the United States through continuing legal education opportunities, professionalism, and recognition of paralegals among the legal community. NALA offers a national certification exam for paralegals in which the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) or Certified Paralegal (CP) designation is obtained. These benefits are invaluable to a person who is committed to the paralegal profession and advancement of their personal skill set.
- Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association (RMPA)
RMPA is a charter member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado. RMPA represents paralegals throughout the Rocky Mountain region, serving paralegals in Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.

- Central Connecticut Paralegal Association (CCPA)
Central Connecticut Paralegal Association, Inc. (CCPA) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in November, 1982. Originally formed as the Greater Hartford Chapter of the Connecticut Association of Paralegals in 1979, the membership, consisting mainly of paralegals in the Greater Hartford area, soon grew to over one hundred.
- Connecticut Association of Paralegals (CAP)
The Connecticut Association of Paralegals ("CAP") was formed in 1975 by a group of students enrolled in the Legal Assistant Program at Sacred Heart University who recognized the need for an association dedicated to their own profession.
- New Haven County Association of Paralegals (NH-CAP)
New Haven County Association of Paralegals (NH-CAP) was organized in 1980. It is a non-profit professional organization for paralegals.

- Delaware Paralegal Association (DPA)
The Delaware Paralegal Association (DPA) was formed in 1976. Early that year, 16 paralegals met at what was then known as Prickett Ward Burt & Sanders to gauge interest among paralegals in Delaware to form an association whose structure and purpose(s) would be determined by the participants. Committees were appointed to begin work on the structure and organization of the association, to research and advise on whether to form a working relationship with the Delaware State Bar Association and to contact paralegals throughout the state to advise them of the association. In September of that year, 33 members were certified as "Charter" members of the Association.

- National Capital Area Paralegal Association (NCAPA)
We serve paralegals and legal assistants in the Washington, D.C. area. NCAPA defines a Paralegal or Legal Assistant as a person that is qualified through education, training, or work experience to perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts, and work that is customarily, but not exclusively, performed by an attorney. This person may be retained or employed by an attorney, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity or may be authorized by administrative, statutory or court authority to perform this work.

- Central Florida Paralegal Association Inc (CFPA)
CFPA is an organization for Central Florida paralegals/legal assistants who desire to promote high standards of professionalism in their career field. Through CFPA meetings, social activities, newsletters and other means, paralegals/legal assistants are able to keep current with changing requirements and network with fellow paralegals/legal assistants, attorneys and other legal professionals.
- Gainesville Association of Paralegals, Inc. (GALA)
The Gainesville Association of Paralegals, Inc., is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the promotion of the legal assistant profession, certification through NALA, professional training and networking, and upholding the highest standards of the legal profession.
- Northeast Florida Paralegal Association (NEFPA)
NEFPA is an active and vital participant in the northeast Florida legal community, supporting the Jacksonville Bar Association in many activities, including "Holiday in January" to give a holiday experience to kids brought into the Department of Children and Families system during the holidays, as well as Professionals Seminar during Law Week and otherwise. Members of NEFPA volunteer at the office of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, and participate in "The Missing Link Legal Assistance and Mentor Program," assisting and under supervision of the Family Law Inns of Court and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Victim Services Counselor's office to aid victims of domestic violence.
- Northwest Florida Paralegal Association (NWFPA)
Northwest Florida Paralegal Association (formerly Pensacola Legal Assistants) was formed on August 12, 1981, to encourage a high order of ethical and professional attainment, further education among members of the profession, establish good fellowship among society members and members of the legal community, and cooperate with the bar association.
- Paralegal Association of Florida (PAF)
Paralegal Association of Florida, Inc. ("PAF"), is a professional association of approximately 1,000 paralegals from around the State of Florida. The Association was incorporated in 1976 as Florida Legal Assistants, Inc.; however, in 2000, the name was changed because the term "paralegal" more accurately reflects the substantive nature of our members' responsibilities in rendering legal services -- while under the supervision of an attorney -- and clearly distinguishes our profession from other law office support personnel. A 1998 survey sponsored by The Florida Bar concluded that the public perceives "paralegals" to be subject to higher criteria than "legal assistants" and, therefore, have a higher standing in the legal profession. The work we perform for our law firms, corporations, or governmental employers requires a high degree of professionalism, strong ethical standards, and initial and continuing legal education.
- South Florida Paralegal Association (SFPA)
South Florida Paralegal Association, Inc. (SFPA), previously known as Dade Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (DALA), was formed in 1979 by a group of paralegals interested in creating a local organization. Although a State and National Association exists, the paralegals in South Florida felt the need for a local organization in order to address the problems of paralegals in our area, as well as to provide a local forum for ideas and information which would be immediately accessible.
- Southwest Florida Paralegal Association (SWFPA)
We established Southwest Florida Paralegal Association, Inc. SWFPA in 1997 to provide local paralegals with a network of legal resource information, educational information, and information on professional opportunities. Our primary goals are to uphold the ethical, professional, and personal standards set forth by NALA (the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc.), to increase paralegal awareness by encouraging member participation in community activities, and to offer membership services at a reasonable rate. We have created a strong local organization, and we are achieving our goals by channeling the energies of our members who work together to provide some needed resources and information to our local paralegals.
- Tampa Bay Paralegal Association (TBPA)
Tampa Bay Paralegal Association, Inc. is a local Florida voice and the standard for excellence for the paralegal profession through its work on the issues of regulation, ethics, and education. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, TBPA is a non-profit professional organization representing paralegals in the Tampa Bay area.

- Georgia Association of Paralegals (GAP)
In 1973, a group of Atlanta area paralegals joined together to form the Atlanta Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. Their objective was to provide support for persons entering this new field, and to promote the profession to the legal community. They also wanted to create a forum for contributing to the discussions and decisions of both state and local bar associations regarding training and utilization of paralegals by attorneys.

- Hawaii Paralegal Association (HPA)
The HPA is a non-profit Hawaii corporation that was formed in 1978 to meet the need for a professional association for paralegals. It continues to be the only such association in Hawaii. HPA is an active participant in the legal community and sponsors regular activities, individually and in conjunction with the State Bar Association and the Hawaii Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

- Indiana Paralegal Association (IPA)
The Indiana Paralegal Association, Inc. ("IPA"), an organization serving the paralegals of the State of Indiana, continues to strive to be on the cutting edge of what has become one of the fastest growing professions in the country.
- Michiana Paralegal Association (MPA)
The Michiana Paralegal Association ("MPA") recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 1999. Since our formation, MPA has matured into a strong paralegal association with nearly 95 members from the northwestern portion of Indiana and southwestern portion of Michigan.
- Northeast Indiana Paralegal Association (NIPA)
Our organization began in 1986 as a chapter of the Indiana Paralegal Association ("IPA") which is located in Indianapolis with the intent to break away and form our own chapter when we acquired a substantial number of members. In 1995, this intent became a reality. With almost 100 members, we incorporated our own association, known as Northeast Indiana Paralegal Association, Inc. ("NIPA").

The Iowa Association of Legal Assistants (IALA) consists of eight regions which correspond to Iowa’s eight judicial districts. The directors of the individual regions within the Iowa Association of Legal Assistants hold meetings within their regions and also sit on the board of directors of the association.

- Heartland Association of Legal Assistants (HALA)
The Heartland Association of Legal Assistants (“HALA”) is a not-for-profit professional organization dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession by promoting the benefits of effective and increased utilization of paralegals within the legal community. Its membership is comprised of paralegals, paralegal educators and students, and institutions supporting the organization’s goals and purposes. HALA promotes high ethical standards for its membership and supports a voluntary national certification to identify paralegals who have demonstrated a high degree of competency in the profession, as well as providing continuing legal education for its members. HALA is dedicated to providing a network of professional support to paralegals throughout the legal community.
- Kansas Association of Legal Assistants (KALA)
KALA is the professional association for Kansas legal assistants. Formed in 1981 and affiliated with the National Association for Legal Assistants, Inc., KALA endorses recognition of a system of professional credentials for legal assistants through certification, legal education, and/or specialized training.
- Kansas Paralegal Association (KPA)
KPA is a professional association which offers membership to paralegals/legal assistants, students, paralegal educators, and institutions with an interest in supporting the purposes of the organization. KPA was incorporated on June 16, 1977 as a non-profit organization under the name of The Kansas Legal Assistants Society. In 1996 the organization changed its name to Kansas Paralegal Association.

- Kentucky Paralegal Association (KPA)
The need for a state paralegal organization had been recognized for years and the groundwork was laid at the first paralegal Forum held in Louisville, Kentucky in November 1989. Following the Forum, organizational meetings were held and the Kentucky Paralegal Association (KPA) was officially formed with the filing of the Articles of Incorporation in September, 1990.

- Louisiana State Paralegal Association (LSPA)
The Louisiana State Paralegal Association, Inc., as the leader of the paralegal profession in Louisiana, is dedicated to the advancement and betterment of the paralegal profession throughout the state of Louisiana and in general. The Legal Assistants Section of the State Bar of Michigan provides education, information and analysis about issues of concern through meetings, seminars, their site, public service programs, and publication of a newsletter. Membership in the Section is open to qualified legal assistants and to all members of the State Bar of Michigan.

- Mississippi Paralegal Association, Inc. (MPA)
MPA was founded in 1980 by paralegals/legal assistants in Mississippi who wished to encourage a high order of ethical and professional attainment. The main purpose of MPA is to promote the profession of the legal assistant or paralegal. MPA supports, encourages and maintains high standards for the service, conduct and ethics of paralegal/legal assistants. MPA members have the opportunity to further their education through MPA sponsored meetings and seminars. Members are also able to maintain a close tie with county, state and national bar associations as well as with other members of the legal community. - Missouri Paralegal Association (MPA)
The Missouri Paralegal Association (M.P.A.) was incorporated in 1998 as a Missouri non-profit corporation for the following purposes:
to develop and advance the highest quality standards for education, ethical responsibility and professionalism;
to provide Missouri paralegals with a forum for the exchange of information and ideas;
to increase the knowledge of the public, the judiciary and the legal community of the role and the benefits of the paralegal profession;
to offer and support continuing legal education (CLA) programs for paralegals; and,
to provide a unified voice for addressing issues affecting the paralegal profession at state and national levels.
- St. Louis Association of Legal Assistants (SLALA)
The St. Louis Association of Legal Assistants (hereinafter "SLALA") is a non-profit association formed to promote the advancement of the legal assistant profession in the St. Louis area through encouragement of high ethical and professional standards and to provide access to information and education for legal assistants, and other legal professionals.

- Montana Association of Legal Assistants (MALA)
MALA is to provide its members with continuing education opportunities. To attain this objective, MALA bylaws require that the association hold a minimum of four educational events or a total of ten hours of education during each fiscal year. MALA usually exceeds the ten hour requirement and holds two full-day and two half-day seminars each year.

- Capital District Paralegal Association (CDPA)
The Capital District Paralegal Association, Inc. (CDPA) is a
nonprofit association organized to promote and improve the
image of paralegals as professionals within the legal
community; to promote communication among paralegals in
the Capital District; to promote continuing legal education of
paralegals; and to promote public awareness of the role of
paralegals within the legal profession.
- Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations (ESAPA)
On January 30, 1988, five NYS paralegal associations met in Binghamton and formed the "Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations" ("ESAPA"). Associations in attendance were from Long Island, Manhattan, Buffalo, Binghamton and Rochester. The statewide alliance arose from the need to strengthen the paralegal profession in NYS through networking.
- Paralegal Association of Rochester, Inc (PAR)
The Paralegal Association of Rochester, Inc. ("PAR" or the "Association") was founded in 1974 as a not-for-profit corporation. PAR acts in the interest of its members and meets a variety of objectives.
- Western New York Paralegal Association (WNYPA)
The Western New York Paralegal Association, Inc. (WNYPA) is a voluntary, nonprofit association formed in 1976 to promote the professional development and continuing legal education of paralegals in the Western New York area. - Asheville Area Paralegal Association (AAPA)
Asheville Area Paralegal Association (AAPA) was formed in 2004. AAPA’s mission is to promote professional and personal development; create a network of paralegals/legal assistants in Asheville and surrounding areas; facilitate the sharing and dissemination of information; provide a forum to meet and exchange ideas; and provide professional legal educational opportunities to its members. AAPA also supports the advancement of the profession by awarding scholarships each year to qualified students who plan to enroll, or are currently enrolled, in an accredited paralegal studies program. Applications for the scholarship are available for download on the association website.
- Guilford Paralegal Association (GPA)
Originally founded as Greensboro Paralegal Association, Guilford Paralegal Association expanded in 2005 to include all of Guilford County's paralegals and legal support staff. GPA's mission is to encourage high ethical and professional attainment; to stimulate fellowship and business cooperation among our members; to address the professional and continuing legal education needs of our members; and to promote the paralegal profession in our community. - North Carolina Bar Association Paralegal Division (NCBA)
From this site, you can access information on upcoming CLE programs, join the NCBA PD, find links to websites, and obtain current information on the Division's activities. There is also a special section for PD members to access member information. Our goal is for the PDD website to be a useful tool for legal assistants in performing daily tasks and research.
- North Carolina Paralegal Association (NCPA)
NCPA was formed in 1980 to fill the need for a statewide organization to provide its legal assistant/paralegal membership with a continued flow of current national information. NCPA is a self-governing organization run by paralegals for paralegals. Through its educational and informational network, NCPA strives to help its members better assist the legal community in fulfilling its duty to their clients and the public. NCPA is an affiliate member of the National Association of Legal Assistants ("NALA").
- Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association (RWPA)
The Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association was formed in October 1979 by a group of professional paralegals with the primary goal of enhancing professionalism and fraternity among paralegals in the Wake County area of North Carolina.

- Cincinnati Paralegal Association (CPA)
- The Cincinnati Paralegal Association, an Ohio nonprofit corporation, is committed to the professional development of the individual paralegal and the paralegal profession, the establishment and support of professional standards, and the advancement of paralegals as an integral and distinctive partner in the delivery of legal services.
- Cleveland Association of Paralegals (CAP)
CAP has been, and continues to be, instrumental in allowing paralegals to keep abreast with rapid growth and technological changes in various legal sectors while advancing a continuing education and the individual role of the paralegal in executing legal services.
- Greater Dayton Paralegal Association, Inc (GDPA)
The purpose of GDPA is to establish good fellowship among association members and members of the legal community; to encourage a higher level of ethical and professional attainment; to further education and training among members of the profession; and to cooperate and foster working relationships with local bar associations and other professional organizations.
- Paralegal Association of Central Ohio (PACO)
Legal Assistants of Central Ohio was (LACO) incorporated in June of 1973 as a professional association for legal assistants. It is the first Legal Assistant Association in Ohio.

- Oregon Paralegal Association (OPA)
The Oregon Paralegal Association (“OPA”), a statewide nonprofit organization with a Southwest Washington chapter, was formed in 1979 as the Oregon Legal Assistants Association. OPA is at the forefront in meeting the needs of its members and listens to its inner voice (the members themselves) to determine its direction. OPA is governed by a board of directors.

- Central Pennsylvania Paralegal Association (CPPA)
The Central Pennsylvania Paralegal Association ("CPPA") was conceived in February of 1984 and became an official non-profit organization in October 1984. The CPPA serves as a forum where professional ideas and concerns of paralegals in all ectors of practice are addressed.
- Chester County Paralegal Association (CCPA)
CCPA was formed in 1992 with the objective and purpose of promoting and maintaining high standards and ethics in the paralegal profession by providing a forum for the exchange of information about the profession, enhancing the role of paralegals in the legal community, and encouraging the continuing education of paralegals.
- Keystone Paralegals
The Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization, formalized in 1995 from groundwork laid in the 1980’s by paralegal associations in Pennsylvania. The Keystone Alliance consists of the following paralegal associations: Central Pennsylvania Paralegal Association, Chester County Paralegal Association, Lancaster Area Paralegal Association, Lycoming County Paralegal Association, Montgomery County Paralegal Association, Philadelphia Association of Paralegals, Pittsburgh Paralegal Association and the York County Paralegal Association.
- Lancaster Area Paralegal Association (LAPA)
Lancaster Area Paralegal Association is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation, which has been serving paralegals and legal assistants in the Lancaster area since 1984. LAPA is a charter member of the Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations.
- Lycoming County Paralegal Association (LCPA)
The Lycoming County Paralegal Association (LCPA) is a nonprofit professional organization compromised of paralegals interested in promoting their own profession, and dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession as a whole.
- NALS of Pennsylvania
NALS of Pennsylvania provides the opportunity to further the knowledge and enhance the ethical standards and professional attainment of our members; to conduct programs of continuing legal education for members and others in the legal profession; to promote fellowship and cooperation among members and with the legal community.
- Philadelphia Association of Paralegals (PAP)
The Philadelphia Association of Paralegals strives to meet the needs of Philadelphia area paralegals and provide as much information as possible to its members through its quarterly newsletter, The Philadelphia Forum, by printing PAP information weekly in The Legal Intelligencer, the local legal newspaper, and through its committees and bimonthly luncheons.
- Pittsburgh Paralegal Association (PPA)
The Pittsburgh Paralegal Association ("PPA") is a voluntary, non-profit association formed in 1977 to promote the professional development and continuing education of paralegals. PPA now has approximately 460 members from the greater Pittsburgh area and receives additional support from affiliate members, area law firms, paralegal training programs and the Allegheny County Bar Association. Members are from all areas of the legal community, including law firms, banks, corporations, hospitals, the public sector and educational institutions.

- Palmetto Paralegal Association (PPA)
The Palmetto Paralegal Association (PPA), formerly known as the Columbia Legal Assistant Association, was established in 1988 to promote professional development through continuing legal education and to enhance the recognition of the paralegal profession within the legal community.
- South Carolina Upstate Paralegal Association (SCUPA)
The South Carolina Upstate Paralegal Association (SCUPA) was formed January 9, 1979 in Greenville, South Carolina in order to promote the paralegal profession and to provide a forum for continuing legal education for paralegals in upstate South Carolina. SCUPA is a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants and a member of the South Carolina Alliance of Legal Assistant Associations. While the primary focus of the organization is on education and professional development of its members, SCUPA also participates in a wide variety of civic and philanthropic endeavors in an effort to improve the upstate community.

- Middle Tennessee Paralegal Association (MTPA)
The Middle Tennessee Paralegal Association ("MTPA") was formed for the purposes of furthering education among members of the paralegal profession; advancing, fostering and promoting the paralegal profession; encouraging a high order of ethical and professional attainment; providing service to the community; and establishing good fellowship among members of the paralegal profession in Nashville, Tennessee and its surrounding areas.
- Smoky Mountain Paralegal Association (SMPA)
The Smoky Mountain Paralegal Association (SMPA), a NALA affiliated association, welcomes members from any location in the state of Tennessee and surrounding states, yet its focus is on the paralegals in the East Tennessee area from the Cumberland Plateau to the eastern, northeastern, and southeastern borders of the state of Tennessee.
- Tennessee Paralegal Association (TPA)
The Tennessee Paralegal Association is a nonprofit, statewide, professional association with its membership comprised of persons who are employed as paralegals, students in recognized paralegal educational programs, and supporters of the paralegal profession.

- Alamo Area Paralegal Association, Inc (AAPA)
Alamo Area Paralegal Association, Inc. ("AAPA", formerly known as Alamo Area Professional Legal Assistants, Inc., "AAPLA") is a voluntary, non-profit organization founded in 1981 by a group of paralegals in and around the Alamo Area of San Antonio, Texas. The creation of AAPA was the result of a need for an organized educational and professional association for paralegals. AAPA is governed by a Board of Directors, elected each Spring by its voting members, and conducts monthly business and educational meetings. AAPA is one of the largest paralegal associations in the State of Texas!
- Capital Area Paralegal Association (CAPA)
The Capital Area Paralegal Association (CAPA) is a professional association for paralegals and legal assistants in Austin, Texas, and the Central Texas area. CAPA was organized in September 1978 by a small group of pioneering paralegals and has since grown into the largest affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) in Texas.
- Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA)
The Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA) was formed on October 23, 1976 as the Dallas Association of Legal Assistants and changed its name in 1996. In 1978, DAPA became affiliated with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), an organization that represents approximately 11,000 paralegals nationwide. DAPA is a voluntary non-profit corporation composed of paralegals working in all areas of the law, who are interested in furthering their own professional development especially through PACE and other voluntary certifications, and who are dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession as a whole.
- Denton County Paralegal Association (DCPA)
DCPA’s purpose is to promote the professional objectives and goals of paralegals in Denton County, Texas, to encourage, promote, and conduct programs of continuing education and professional development, as well as to promote high standards of integrity and professionalism for paralegals.
- Fort Worth Paralegal Association (FWPA)
The purpose of the FWPA is to promote the professional objectives and goals of paralegals, to encourage, promote and conduct programs of continuing education and professional development and to promote the advancement of high standards of integrity and professionalism for paralegals to the end that both the public and the legal profession are better served.
- Houston Corporate Paralegal Association (HCPA)
HCPA's primary purpose is to promote continued professionalism of the corporate paralegal in recognizing the unique challenges facing the corporate paralegal by:
Emphasizing continuing legal education; to Furthering education among members of the profession;
Providing networking opportunities among peers;
Encouraging a high order of ethical and professional attainment;
Advocating full utilization of the paralegal as a valued team partner in servicing the legal needs of government and/or corporate entities;
Providing a voice for its members on the issues facing the paralegal profession;
Cooperating with bar associations;
Supporting and carrying out the programs, purposes, aims and goals of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc.;

- Houston Metropolitan Paralegal Association (HMPA)
HMPA is a nonprofit, non partisan, non bargaining association, organized in 1978 to promote the professional advancement of legal assistants in the Houston area. Today HMPA continues to strive for excellence in the profession thorough the implementation of a minimum education standards and the creation of the Professional Houston Paralegal designation. Although HMPA is not a regulatory board, it is a goal to remain on the forefront of the regulation, certification and licensure issues facing the profession today and in the future.
- Houston Paralegal Association (HPA)
HPA pledges to provide programs of education and professional development to advance the professional development, objectives and goals of paralegals.
HPA will promote the paralegal profession by maintaining ethical conduct and the highest standards of integrity for governing its members.
HPA is dedicated to promoting the education and understanding of legal professionals and the general public, regarding the utilization of paralegals to assist attorneys in providing effective legal services.
- Metroplex Association of Corporate Paralegals (MACP)
MACP was formed in 1997 to promote and encourage the professional objectives and goals of paralegals for in-house counsel in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. MACP strives to provide programs of continuing education and development and to encourage high standards of integrity and professionalism. MACP members meet quarterly at various local corporations and annually in November.
- Northeast Texas Association of Paralegals, Inc. (NTAP)
NTAP is a non-profit paralegal association organized to promote the paralegal profession in the State of Texas and the East Texas area.
- North Texas Paralegal Association (NTPA)
The North Texas Paralegal Association, an affiliated association of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA), and located in Dallas, Texas, is dedicated to the advancement and betterment of the legal assistant profession by promoting the benefits of effective and increased utilization of legal assistants. North Texas Paralegal Association promotes high ethical standards for its membership and supports a voluntary national certification to identify legal assistants and/or paralegals who have demonstrated a high degree of competency in the profession and promotes continuing legal education for its members. North Texas Paralegal Association is dedicated to providing a network of professional support to legal assistants in their careers.
- Southeast Texas Association of Paralegals (SETAP)
SETAP (formerly known as SETALA) was organized in 1980 by four legal assistants, two of whom were Certified Legal Assistants (CLAs). It is a professional association for paralegals and legal assistants in Southeast Texas. SETAP is affiliated with the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and the Texas Alliance of Paralegal Associations (TAPA).

LAAU is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing further education, establishing standards of professional and ethical conduct, and aiding in the advancement of employment opportunities for legal assistants and paralegals in the state of Utah. Student memberships are available for those who are studying to become legal assistants or paralegals.

- Vermont Paralegal Organization (VPO)
The Vermont Paralegal Organization (VPO) is a statewide, volunteer-based organization. The purpose of the VPO is to establish and maintain high standards of education, conduct, and integrity among paralegals; to foster, advance and promote the paralegal profession; to facilitate communication within the Vermont paralegal community and within local, state, and national bar organizations; to support and encourage continuing education for paralegals in Vermont; to educate the legal and business communities in Vermont in the effective utilization of paralegals; and to encourage the expansion of paralegal roles.

- Fairfax Bar Association Paralegal Section
The Fairfax Bar Association is a voluntary professional organization with more than 2,000 attorneys practicing within the 19th Judicial Circuit of Virginia. The FBA and its members work to improve the legal profession, the community in which they live and the administration of justice in society. The Paralegal Section was established in 2001 to represent paralegals and legal assistants working as paralegals, who are an integral part of the legal practice. In addition to the mission of the Bar, the Paralegal Section’s goals are to raise our visibility among the members of the Bar and the local judicial system, as well as educate and raise awareness among the legal and public communities on the significance of the paralegal profession and its rapid expansion and growth.
- Richmond Paralegal Association
The Richmond Paralegal Association (RPA) is a non-profit corporation formed in Virginia in 1982. As an association of legal assistants/paralegals, our primary goals are continuing education and recognition in the legal field. Our membership consists of legal assistants/paralegals, legal professionals and educators from the City of Richmond and the surrounding metropolitan areas.
- Virginia Peninsula Paralegal Association (VAPPA)
The Virginia Peninsula Paralegal Association (VAPPA) is a voluntary, non-profit, non-partisan organization and encourages a high order of ethics, sponsors continuing legal education and facilitates network opportunities. VAPPA is composed of (i) paralegals who are interested in furthering their professional development and are dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession; (ii) legal educators and organizations that are interested in promotion of the paralegal profession; and (iii) students who are currently enrolled in paralegal education programs. The organization, originally founded as Peninsula Legal Assistants in 1987, is an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA) and a member of the Virginia Alliance of Paralegal Associations (VAPA).

- Association of West Virginia Paralegals (AWVP)
Association of West Virginia Paralegals ("AWVP"), formerly known as Legal Assistants of West Virginia, Inc. ("LAWV") was organized in 1982 by a group of paralegals in the Charleston-Huntington areas. This organization was the result of a need for an organized educational and professional association for paralegals. In 1985, AWVP became an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants. AWVP now has regions throughout the State of West Virginia, governed by one central board of directors which meets regularly to conduct business.
- Legal Assistants/Paralegals of Southern West Virginia (LAPSWV)
LAPSWV promotes high standards in the legal assistant profession, establishes networking resources for legal assistants/paralegals, and provides integrity in the legal community. LAPSWV also contributes to the community by participating in a number of charitable programs. LAPSWV strives to raise professional standards in the legal assistant/paralegal profession by providing opportunities for personal growth and development through educational experiences and the networking with other professionals.
